Layars Augmented Reality browser announced that it is now available worldwide on Android handsets. Hundreds of new 'Layars' are available to view on your phone camera including Wikipedia entries and geographic points of interest.

Of all the Augmented Reality apps so far, though, Layar is the most exciting because it's an augmented reality platform... Location-based social network Brightkite has already launched a layer that lets you view location check-ins, photos & messages left by your friends in the places you view through your phone.
